Originally published by FinSMEs on May 2, 2023

Mi Alma, an Atlanta, GA-based website for those experiencing grief and loss, raised $1.5M in Pre-Seed funding.

Backers included DoMyOwn.com Founder Michael Gossling and his wife June, PlayOn! Sports Founder David Rudolph and his wife Kristine, Marketwake Founder Brooke MacLean, Real Estate Developer and Philanthropist Michael Staenberg, and Terminus Founder Eric Spett.

The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its business reach.

Founded by husband and wife team Scott and Jordan Arogeti, Mi Alma is an online support service focused on how communities support families experiencing the loss of a loved one. Through its page, families provide clear direction of the support they need, whether it be direct funds, a meal train or help with third party meals or groceries, or even volunteering for day-to-day activities. Mi Alma allows the community to post pictures, stories, memories, or prepared remarks, with all content available.

The Support Registry includes:

  • Funds: Crowdsource support for medical bills, funeral costs, and more.
  • Food: Direct supporters toward Mealtrain, meals, and grocery needs.
  • Volunteer: Organize lists of volunteers for tasks, to-dos, and in-person help.
  • Memories: Collect pictures and stories in one place.
