Free From Market, a Kansas City, MO-based provider of a patient-driven digital platform, raised $2.1M in Seed funding.

The round was led by Bluestein Ventures, with participation from Acumen America, Beta Boom, KCRise Fund, 1st Course Capital and AssetBlue Ventures.

The company intends to use the funds to enhance its proprietary technology platform and expand its service delivery model to provide inclusive access to the personalized foods, telenutrition and data necessary to improve health outcomes.

Led by CEO Emily Brown, Free From Market is a provider of a digital health platform to provide personalized food access and selection, integrated telenutrition and educational support, as well as the ability to measure health outcomes for individuals living with chronic conditions where food is the standard of care. Its partners with healthcare payors, providers, nonprofits, and other organizations to offer their members and patients “food is medicine” interventions to  treat health conditions.

Brown is a recognized thought leader in the “food is medicine” space as a board and council member of national organizations including the NIAID National Advisory Council and the Children’s Hospital Association’s Next Generation of Quality Steering Committee. In addition, she participated in the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health last September.
